The Story of the Naval Reserve

Over the past two decades, John Lynn Shanton II has written two books and has finished a third - The Story of the Naval Reserve. This project was started over four years ago with support of RADM Keith, Director of the Naval Reserve Association, at a presentation to VADM John Totushek, the Director of the Naval Reserve, it was approved on 2 June 2003. He started work immediately and obtained required CHINFO East (for publishing books) and other CHINFO approvals.

It has a white cover with the metal embossed Naval Reserve Force command logo on a "coffee table book" sized 9" x 12" with 300+ pages.

The book includes chapters on the Naval Reserve Around the World, Naval Militias of the United States, Early History of Naval Reserve, The "New" Naval Reserve, Naval Reserve People, Naval Reserve Force, Specialty Naval Reserve Commands/Units. Commands/Activities Supporting the Naval Reserve Program, Naval Reserve Support Organizations/Groups, 21st Century Naval Reserve, and Stories of Today's Reservists. There are extensive pictures and graphics.
