Column #43 —Fort Detrick Business Development Office and Cannon Hill Expansion

This column is a continuation of my column ago on the Fort Detrick BDO and an expansion of an existing business downtown — Cannon Hill Logistics on South Street.

Fort Detrick Business Development Office (FDBDO)

For those businesses considering working with tenants (there are 38) in Fort Detrick, this is the key to your marketing.  You must go to their website, everything is there for you [http://www.fdbdo.com/].  Virtually everything you need is there for any business wanting to work at Fort Detrick…and you won’t have to go through “the fence!” The following graphic tells the whole story —

The Fort Detrick Business Development Office develops business relationships between Fort Detrick with its tenant organizations, with statewide Economic Development Offices, Colleges and Universities, the Fort Detrick Contracting Community (FDCC) and industry. These business relationships support access to and navigation through the complex government procurement process.

This will be the place to find Fort Detrick Business Opportunities: contact information (for government organizations and teaming with other businesses), training for government contracting, licensing or selling intellectual property, and a portal for being a part of the technology growth at the Fort. Don’t miss this opportunity for you business.

Again, repeated from the previous columns; the office is 201 Thomas Johnson Drive, Suite 208; the phone is 301-620-7071.  Visit either Darryl Rekemeyer, Director; John Gregg, Business Development Specialist, or Khris Keepers, Office Manager.  If you want to expand your business, don’t pass up this opportunity and visit them.

Cannon Hill Logistics Expansion

What is Cannon Hill Logistics? It is a privately held corporation specializing in product distribution, fulfillment and information services. The company operates from its newly renovated distribution center in Frederick. It is a company that takes pride on delivering highly personalized service.

Cannon Hill has over 18 years experience in wholesale/retail product distribution. This includes Business to Business (B2B), or Business to Consumer (B2C) fulfillment, Cannon Hill has a program to fit business needs. They assure that customers quickly obtain the products they order and receive the first-class service they demand. They also can assist in the design and printing of promotional materials to help increase and solidify the market base of a customer’s product or services.

Cannon Hill Logistics is owned by Dan Lawton and Kevin Brown of Frederick. Offices and distribution center is located at 35 East South Street. You can’t miss the existing building. Construction is now underway for the new addition to this historic site.

The partner in the new building is Stuart Kramer of New York City.  It was designed by a local architect Gary Baker and keeps its historic style.

The new building is for lease, with up to seven units available ranging from 1,600 to 2,100 square feet. Units can be combined to achieve a larger space. For more information, call 301-788-2801.

In the movie The Field of Dreams Kevin Costner had advice — “if you build it, they will come,” This is happening in many areas of Frederick and as Fort Detrick expands, there will be a demand for more office space, Cannon Hill is one company that is responding by building it…will they come? More building will come! Is Frederick ready? Future columns will deal with this expansion of the business community. Cannon Hill built it to have more businesses coming.
